Urquiola, 44, is one of the few women to have ascended to the male dominated furniture design firmament. She is rapidly becoming the world's leading female designer. She once remarked "Designers should be wary of subscribing to the idea that furniture is fashion. A design is meant to accompany a person for a lifetime.
