The kitchen is located in Governors Bay, nestled into the Port Hills, 20 minutes from Christchurch’s city centre. The owners sought an organic aesthetic
to complement the rugged bush surroundings and the exterior of the home finished in timber, stone and copper. It was important that the kitchen be
driven by function and to have a "measured elegant feel"
says Maria Pomeroy of Matisse Christchurch.
The “Gamma” collection from Arclinea was the perfect fit to complement the brief. The seamless aesthetic of “Gamma” features clean lines and incorporates recessed handles into the structure of the bench top. Long cabinet drawers were chosen to maximise storage and to accentuate the kitchen’s linear lines. Floating shelves help achieve the elegant, Japanese feel the clients loved and provide beautiful spaces for display.

Contrasting the generous use of timber, with soft matt black surfaces in defined areas on the island and back wall, helped avoid a strictly symmetrical
look. Stainless steel on the back working bench and splashbacks adds practicality and an element of reflection and light to the overall design.
The “Armour” finish, in Nero from Arclinea, is tactile and warm and has the benefit of absorbing light. This adds a softness to the colour palette during the day and at night when lighting comes into play.” says Maria Pomeroy of Matisse Christchurch.

The 2018 Salone del Mobile provided a feast of the world's latest designs showcasing our favourite brands at Matisse. Over the next few weeks we will provide you with the latest design news from the Fair.
B&B Italia
B&B Italia presented Walks of Design at Salone del Mobile, a creative journey across two distinct contexts of interior and outdoor settings.
"Bay is a seating collection of generously proportioned objects which cradle the body in its soft and well defined volumes. A sofa
in two sizes, an armchair and a high-backed armchair, perfect for relaxation and informal gatherings, with a solid yet airy interwoven structure.”
Doshi Levien present Bay, their new 2018 design for B&B Italia Outdoor.
The B&B Atoll seating system designed by Antonio Citterio is a new modular system, a refined expression of a balanced aesthetic
form and a decisive contemporary style.
"B&B Atoll is a versatile collection that reinterprets traditional elements, like the bolster, associating them with a sleek,
refined structure that fits smoothly into the contemporary language. It is versatile because it can be used in a wide range of settings, from the most
formal, when partnered with the armchairs, to informal situations. This is thanks to the possibility of creating an L-shaped configuration with the
daybed as end element"
Maxalto
"After 25 years of presenting products that use artisanal materials and processes, I felt the need to offer a 'moulded' piece, a chair with a fusion
structure, thanks to a significant industrial investment by the company. At the same time, I wanted it to be part of the Maxalto collection. Caratos is absolutely contemporary, but recalls some twentieth century objects. It echoes the idea of bronze through a 'full' opaque finishing that absorbs
light, and the great quality of the leather upholstery, giving it a saddlery look" Antonio Citterio
Rimadesio
Rimadesio exhibited a stage for story telling based on solid proposals and solutions developed through a year of designing and testing. They presented
new designs rich in details and exclusive finishings for a balanced proposal between architectural and furniture design, technical evolution and stylistic
research.
Rimadesio have updated the Zenit system with coordinated combinations of cabinetry in aluminium bronze and brand new elm melamine, castoro leather
and brown melamine internal drawers.
Dress Bold is now available in a material back panel version with exclusive luxurious fabrics in 6 different colours. All systems designed by Giuseppe
Bavuso.
Moroso
Patricia Urquiola configured an interdisciplinary and intercultural exhibition space for Moroso to celebrate the concept of Material and Art and to
showcase their latest designs.
The new Chamfer Sofa celebrates twenty years of the Moroso and Patricia Urquiola collaboration.
"Discussing this anniversary with Patrizia Moroso, for our twenty-year work anniversary, we decided to work on a simplification of a series of echoes
from projects done in the past, linking up for example to Redondo and other sofas which for us represented a sort of cradle or nest. We lowered, we
geometrised, we produced purer, cleaner lines and this border, this broken edge came out, this Chamfer, a word used often in architecture
where, when we join two lines in a curve, we join them in a chamfer"

As part of Eurocucina 2016 in Milan, Arclinea celebrated its 90th year,
presenting a new project by Antonio Citterio - Principia
Function and Ritual motivate the design of Principia, highlighting natural materials, innovative production technologies and artisan detailing. The
concept of the Kitchen as the heart of the home is revisited becoming the main driver for interiors. Function, purpose of work and shared experiences
combined, form the model of Principia. A connected, coordinated, beautifully crafted and functional kitchen concept.
Principia merges an antique-look-rough wood with an innovative stainless steel finish. The new development of technological PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition)
is embedded throughout the design. To find out more click here.
